TIPPAH COUNTY - The semifinals of the Five County Junior High Tournament have been postponed because of bad weather. The tournament is being held at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville.
The Blue Mountain Junior Cougars were set to play Baldwyn Middle School today at 5:30 p.m., but that game has been moved to Monday, Feb. 1 at the same time.
Should the Junior Cougars win the game, they will play in the tournament championship Wednesday Feb. 3.
Also, the Tippah County Tournament, which was rescheduled from its original Jan. 7-9 date because of snow and ice, could be postponed again. The tournament is set to tip off Saturday at 5 p.m.
Friday morning, freezing rain prompted officials to cancel school at North Tippah. South Tippah dismissed classes at 9:20 a.m.
Coach Mike Lewis spoke by phone Friday and said it was too early to decide anything about the tournament, but a decision would be made as soon as possible Saturday.
