Tired of politicians who often get hard to reach after they’re elected to office?

Well, one who remembers who elected him will be in town Thursday.

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley will hold a "Ratepayers’ Forum" Thursday, April 16, at the Tippah County Courthouse from 6-7 p.m. The event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

This town-hall type meeting in Ripley is one in a series of events Presley has scheduled across the district in the coming months to hear directly from ratepayers and the general public.

Commissioner Presley wants to give people a chance to come and talk to him, one on one, about their concerns regarding high utility rates and service, and how that affects their lives and businesses.

He’ll also speak directly to the public about utility issues facing the PSC today and the major reforms he believes are necessary, and give the public a chance to ask questions.

The commissioner plans to discuss his recently proposed "Ratepayers’ Bill of Rights"; live internet broadcasting of PSC hearings; financial assistance programs available to low-income ratepayers; as well as updates on the No Call Law and many other consumer related topics that affect Mississippians and our economic climate.

Since taking office in January of 2008, Presley has been a strong advocate for reform of the PSC and consumer protection issues.

If you’ve got a question about utility rates and service, here’s your chance to get some answers. Show up Thursday night, and bring your questions with you.
